Rumble strips serve as a road safety feature by alerting distracted drivers of potential danger of leaving the roadway or crossing the center line in oncoming traffic. Rumble strips create vibration and audible sound to the driver. Rumble strips may also be installed in a series to warn drivers of a stop or slowdown ahead, or of an upcoming dangerous area.
